She sang about driving in her Mini Cooper and feeling super duper, but now Madonna’s Mini is up for sale for a mere £55,000 – a snip for a superfan and a unique piece of Material Girl memorabilia that still has its original satnav.

Kept in storage since it was traded in, the Mini Cooper S is virtually pristine, right down to the V5 registration document and insurance paperwork that list the registered owners as Guy Ritchie and Madonna L Ciccone.

Mini Madonna

Madonna took delivery of the sleek, black Mini back in 2002 and drove it for the 4 years she lived in London when married to Ritchie. And it was the car she was driving when she recorded the American Life album, hence the reference in the lyrics – in fact you can still use the satnav to drive straight to the recording studios.

Madonna also opted for a full range of extras including alloy wheels, privacy glass and tinted windows, although she was papped while out and about several times. It was also the car she used to do the school run with daughter Lourdes and is in absolutely pristine condition.

Workers at the Cowley plant in Oxfordshire who put the car together were so excited to be working on a vehicle for her Madgesty they signed it under the bonnet.

Most expensive Mini

The car first came up for sale at a Historics at Brookland auction in 2016. It smashed the guide price of £6-9,000, selling for a whopping £22,400 to a specialised car collecter in Chelsea who has now listed it at £55,000.

To put that in perspective, the asking price is actually £14,000 higher than the brand new Mini Cooper S Goodwood Edition, the result of a special collaboration with Rolls Royce.

Take the name Madonna off the registration document and the car, even with its current low mileage of just 25,000 miles, would be worth around £2,300 if sold privately – that’s a massive Madonna premium of 1800% for the seller.

Birthday present

Perhaps there’s no coincidence that this iconic little runaround with its astonishing provenance is up for sale in the year that Madonna turns 60. After all, the Material Girl is still as fierce as ever and this Mini Cooper S is a way for one very lucky fan to own a quite astonishing piece of memorabilia from one of the true greats of pop music. Happy birthday Madonna!
