Providing a company car for employees is still one of the top ten employee benefits, a survey by Employment Review has revealed. However since emission based ?benefit in kind? tax changes it has been knocked off from top spot. Other employee benefits which ranked highly in the survey were healthcare based, such as free eye tests and dental care.
The research found that 55% of firms still offer a company car, although the overall number is continuing to fall since the introduction of CO2 based taxes in 2002. The number of firms offering a company car changes dramatically based on the industry. 75% of manufacturing companies offer employees a company car, whereas in the public sector the figure drops to 22%. However although tax on company car fleets has undoubtedly increased, generous savings can still be made on fleet insurance by finding the right insurer.
