New mobile phone crackdown on drivers in the UK
New legislation to increase the penalty for using a hand-held phone whilst driving came into force on 27 February 2007. The current fine of ?30 has increased to ?60 and three penalty points on your licence.
Penalty points on your licence has traditionally meant higher insurance costs. However that is where Quote Me Today are different, we have very competitive schemes for Convicted driver insurance. In the current climate of speed cameras, and an ever increasing raft of motoring legislation, we are concerned that ordinary motorists are being labelled as convicted drivers and are consequently paying increased insurance premiums.
A driver can under the new mobile phone / motoring legislation, be prosecuted for using a hands-free device if you are not in proper control of your vehicle when using the device. The penalties are the same - ?60 fine and three points on your licence.
If you require insurance and are a convicted driver, whatever the type of motoring conviction ? we can provide you with a Quick Quote for Convicted Driver insurance and save you money.
