Why No Truck Driver Should Go Without Having Effective Truck Insurance

Having fully comprehensive truck insurance is a legal requirement for anyone who operates or drives a truck or HGV on public roads or highways. Failure to not comply with these legal guidelines and be without truck insurance, could cause a variety of problems including financial risks to even a police conviction. Luckily, with the use of the internet it is easy to quickly find the perfect truck insurance policy to match your HGV, truck or lorry, meaning you stay legally in line at all times.

If you do not have comprehensive truck insurance you will find that should you or one of your HGV drivers be involved in an accident and subject to a claim, you would have to fund the costs of this claim yourself rather than have an insurance provider who could pay this for you. Sometimes the claim could be dramatically more than what you can actually afford resulting in your HGV business going bankrupt or facing criminal charges should you not be able to fund these claims.

One of the major concerns to anyone driving without truck insurance is that you can be subject to police action if you are caught. As it is illegal to operate a HGV or truck without it, should a police officer realise you do not have the insurance you could risk facing court action or even have your license taken off you. This is bad from a business perspective also as if your license gets taken off you then you will not be able to drive resulting in a loss of income during this time.

Another factor to consider is if you own the business and your HGV drivers are not appropriately insured is the impact this will have on your clients and customers. Customers are more likely to use a HGV service if they know the drivers are appropriately insured to cover themselves from all claims. However, if your drivers are not insured you could find customers and clients are less likely to work with them or even worse if the customer makes a claim against one of your drivers and your are unable to pay the costs this will mark your company and driver with a bad reputation which is highly damaging for a HGV business.

The best way to ensure you are legally in line and financially stable is to make sure you have adequate truck insurance cover, this will fund any costs in the event of a claim and keep you and your HGV drivers free from any police convictions.
